The Norton Elementary Media Program supports the school’s curriculum and instruction by providing quality resources, encouraging reading across all content areas, and building collaborative relationships with students, staff, and parents.   

Meet Ms. Baccus

I have had the privilege of serving as an educator since 2001- working in diverse roles- and have been a dedicated school librarian since 2016. I hold a Bachelor’s degree In Communication and a Master’s Degree in School Library Media. In recognition of my contributions, I was honored as local school Teacher of the Year in 2022.

I am deeply committed to fostering an enriching educational environment. Each day, I strive to ignite a passion for reading and learning by cultivating a warm, welcoming space where students are encouraged to explore literature through self-selection, experience captivating storytelling, and engage with our dynamic makerspace. I also lead engaging media lessons designed to build essential research skills.

In addition to these enriching experiences, we host a variety of exciting events throughout the year, including book fairs, the GCPS bookmobile, puppet shows, museum exhibitions, guest author visits, as well as special guest readers. Meet Ms. McGaughey

Since joining Norton Elementary in 2024, I have had the joy of serving as the Library Media Clerk, where I support the daily operations of our vibrant school library alongside our School Librarian. and assisting students and staff in locating resources that spark curiosity and support learning.

Beyond the day-to-day, I help bring our library to life through engaging events like book fairs, puppet shows, and other educational activities that foster a love for reading. I am passionate about creating an inclusive, welcoming space where every student feels inspired to explore, discover, and grow. I look forward to continuing this journey with our amazing students and staff, learning and evolving together.
