Martin Luther King Jr. Day
GCPS schools and offices will be closed on MLK Day— Monday, January 19— with students and staff returning to class on Tuesday, January 20.
The birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is observed as a national holiday each year on the third Monday in January. MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
The commemoration of #MLKDay as a Day of Service is a call to act on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy as we work together to make our communities more equitable, build bridges, lead with empathy to address social issues, and commit to being of service to each other. Make Monday a day on, not a day off.
Chick-Fil-a Night
Come out and support our school at the next Chick-fil-A Spirit Night on Thursday, January 22nd, from 5-8 p.m. at Chick-fil-A on Centerville Highway.
Even if you are only able to place an order to go while in the drive-thru or for pick-up through your mobile app, you can still support our school by simply clicking "Yes" on the question that asks if you want to support Beta Club Norton ES (see example photo) or letting the drive-thru attendant know that you are supporting the Norton Spirit Night.
Remember, the class with the highest attendance will win a popsicle party!
Skate Night at Sparkles
We invite you and your family to join us on February 5th from 5:00pm-7:30pm for an evening of fun and excitement at Sparkles Family Fun Center (1104 Grayson Highway, Lawrenceville). Skating and Skate Rental will cost $8.00 per person. All Norton students and families are welcome.
Digital Learning Day
Friday, February 6th is a Digital Learning Day (DLD) for all students. On scheduled Digital Learning Days, students access lessons in Google Classroom through their Learning Space but may not have virtual class time with their teachers.
To ensure that students have a nutritious meal to fuel their learning, our bus drivers will be on the road and at every bus stop to deliver meals prepared by the School Nutrition Program staff.
Families should expect buses to run their routes from approximately 10:45 a.m. to noon, beginning at the first stops on the route. These delivered meals are provided at no cost to families and are provided to anyone 18 years old and under.
